John Mayer

Does anyone get the feeling that John Mayer is a better musician than his albums would make it seem?

I wish people were intelligent enough to see through his humor and find the real truth. I’m talking about his short-lived TV show on VH1 (one episode: “John Mayer has a TV Show”). It was truly intelligent humor. In one segment about a “focus group” about him, he jokes that all of his songs were written by Richard Marks. I saw an interview with John Mayer on the Today Show, and he said that they weren’t going to do any more TV shows because apparently some people (Richard Marks) didn’t get the joke. John said: “I’ll just stick to being a musician”. Unfortunately, he might have to be sneaky about that too.

I don’t understand what you are saying… he is a good musician? Or not?

My point was: I believe he is a great musician. And he’s funny to boot. Too bad he can’t share his humor with people, along with his music.

I agree with you 100%, AJ. I actually don’t enjoy his albums much — they come off sort of ‘canned’ and ‘prefab’ to my ears. When I’ve seen clips of him playing and/or speaking though, he seems incredibly talented and the kind of guy I would enjoy hanging out with. Something’s gotta give somewhere so that he can start reaching his potential.
