I’m not sure what prompted looking through my archives this evening, but I realized… this blog is nearly 10 years old!

Hard to believe that I’ve kept this thing going for that long. It started out as a place to post pictures of our puppy, Yeti, and quickly turned in to my little soapbox on the war in Iraq.

Since I don’t have quite as much time alone with my thoughts these days, I haven’t been able to put the same effort in to writing as I would like. Not that there aren’t issues to discuss…

A couple little notes from the archives: I recently objected to some friends saying some harsh things online about President Obama. I had (in my mind) thought that there was no way I had resorted to any sort of childish name calling of President Bush in my online postings. It didn’t take me long to find an example… sorry about that.

I called an Obama presidency on July 27, 2004. I thought I was on record earlier, but that must have been a face to face conversation with someone following a trip to Chicago in 2003…

Well, if you all keep reading, I’ll keep writing, and even if you stop, I’ll still be here.

ok. i’ve gone ahead with the transferring of my domain and host. we’ll see how this goes.

i’ve been thinking about switching internet hosts, but it’s quite an ordeal. i think i have a pretty good handle on getting the files transferred, dumping the databases to sql files and reimporting, etc.

but the real problem is mail. how do I efficiently move a bunch of mail accounts from one host to another?

matt and I are both on 1&1 hosting. let’s just say that we’ve been less than thrilled.

who’s your favorite host?

Hopefully this will be the last site news post for a while, and then I can get back to the fun stuff.

If all went well, we didn’t lose anything off the back of the moving van on the way over to our new home. I think my email is working as well.

Knock on wood, that was pretty smooth!

Since I recently updated a bunch of my media purchases, I moved that section up to the top over on the right hand side of the site.

I will try to keep up to date with my recent CDs from now on, but sometimes I’m a bit of a slacker.

I have made a few changes…

I was wondering aloud about upgrading to MT 3.0 when it was released, however, instead of doing that, I thought what the heck, why not try WordPress?

So here I am. And so far, I like it. Obviously the design of the site is now a bit, well, default but, I’ll get it updated soon enough.

I didn’t even attempt to somehow redirect all my old MT URLs to new links… as you can see, all my posts made it over fine, and the images should work as well, but if you have an old link to some post of mine sitting around… it will not work anymore! Sorry!

Someday, someday soon I will be finally cleaning up the mess of a layout this site has become. Of course I say this now, but the next couple months hold weddings, moving, jobs, travelling, so if I actually get to work on this, it will be a small miracle unto itself.

Maybe when MT 3.0 comes out, (or when I get accepted to the beta program) I will take a stab at cleaning this place up.

If you have ever seen my desk (home or work) you will know how much of a paper stacker I am. But everyone once and a while, whoo boy! Watch out! I put the paper shredder on overdrive and clean the place up!
